If you are not learning these types of things and how to apply them to your everyday life, what are you doing? If you’re simply enjoying listening to a good speaker and meeting interesting people, fine. But don’t think that you are developing psychically. Avoid the type of teacher who tells you that you are developing psychically and doing spiritual things of which you are not aware. That you are doing the things the teacher indicates may be true, but unless there are other things going on in the class that are resulting in changes in your life, you are not getting what you paid for. You must feel and you must experience to get any good out of the classes. Give yourself a few months, at most, of taking any psychic development classes. If you do not notice any changes in yourself, your psychic abilities, or the way you feel about life in general, it is time to find another teacher.

Many psychics development classes will discuss spirit guides. Some teachers insist they have hundreds of these guides. For some reason, many teachers, including ones who claim to be good Christians, have non-Christian spirit guides telling them about Christianity. Curiously, they never see the contradiction in this. Sometimes a teacher will tell you that your spirit guide is saying that you should be doing this or that act. Here is where you need to beware. A disembodied spirit should not make health or financial decisions for you. This could be an indication of fraud. Besides, if you are studying psychic development, why isn’t your teacher showing you how to contact your own spirit guides rather than telling you what they are saying?

Learn to develop your own ESP abilities and put them to use. Part of this will naturally include contacting your spirit guides. Some teachers believe that spirit guides are merely a manifestation of your higher self. But whether the information from guides is ultimately from an internal or external source, you are the one who must decide whether or not to act on that advice. In this you should always use your common sense. Is the information positive? Loving? Ethical? Will it not harm anyone if you act on it? Remember, in this world you are judged by your actions no matter what caused you to do those actions. Spirit guides never suffer from mistakes or bad medical or financial advice.
